Cheryl Herweg, interior designer and owner of Changing Spaces Interior Design, and her team were commissioned to design the interiors of this Cape home. Offering a professional and personalised service, the firm is known for its passion and distinguished design style, and is proficient in delivering high-end interiors. For this home, rich textured fabrics and gorgeous materials were chosen for the bespoke furnishings and perfectly manufactured for each space. The custom-printed wallpaper throughout makes these interiors unique.
Moving from the bustling city life of Joburg 14 years ago, this family found refuge in their new home in Melkbosstrand, a small village along the West Coast. Settling on an estate that ticked all the boxes, the owner says: “We love that we are right in the middle of beautiful indigenous fauna and flora, yet within walking distance of the ocean and large stretches of beautiful beaches.
“We have views of the lovely golf course, which apart from the daily golfers has springbok, birds and other wildlife frequenting the space. All of this and only a short 30-minute drive into the city centre of Cape Town.”
The owners opted to renovate the original house. “We loved our house from the day we walked into it, and that was before we made changes and alterations along the way. We wanted to modernise our home, and update it with new bathrooms and a kitchen. “We have always wanted solid wood floors as well, so those were installed throughout the house. We needed to move the windows and doors to allow for proper placement of furniture.”
