Changing Spaces Interior Design

Tranquil Time out

When this family decided they wanted to spend their holidays in style, right beside the ocean, what they found was this gorgeous piece of paradise. A revamp included redoing the pool patio, where luxurious timber decking was laid. A convenient built-in braai and
counter were put in to allow for entertaining on warm summer nights.

The interior then had to match up, so renovations were done there too. “The interiors got a cosmetic facelift with fresh paint, gorgeous wallpaper and decorative light fittings,” says Cheryl Herweg from Changing Spaces. A stunning, engineered stone-top kitchen island was a welcome treat as this family needed a fitting area to prepare delicious meals for their brand new braai.

Inviting ample friends and family for the holidays is made easy as this property boasts eight stunning bedrooms. “Every bedroom has its own character, yet the entire house flows beautifully from one space into another,” Herweg says. Changing Spaces took care of all the décor and design requirements and finished the project in six weeks. “The house has a relaxed feel to it, and the fabrics and materials chosen work well with the aspect of being beside the ocean,” says Herweg.

De Ville Cupboards & Joinery was approached by the designer to assist with this beautiful project. The company was responsible for various joinery items throughout the home including the Duco-sprayed kitchen island. Established in 1975, for this company service, quality and attention to detail are a standard promise.

JEH Electrical was tasked with doing the electrical work in this gorgeous home. The company installed soft warm white lighting, pendants throughout, including a bespoke high-level decorative pendant lighting arrangement (MAXIM Décor Lighting) and custom cabinet LED strip lighting. JEH Electrical also provided the socket outlets in this home.

The brief received by Changing Spaces was “a casual relaxed vibe” for their client’s beach house interiors. It had to be homely and inviting but also hard-wearing so that visitors and children would feel comfortable using the furnishings without it feeling too precious. Cheryl Herweg of Changing Spaces specified a neutral palette with accents of black and blue throughout the home. The company was responsible for the entire interior design process, from implementation to handover.
